DeVonta Smith is ready to roll with Gardner Minshew under center for the Eagles on Saturday night

Gardner Minshew has officially been named the starter for the Philadelphia Eagles game on Christmas Eve against the Dallas Cowboys.
Earlier this week, DeVonta Smith had this to say about Gardner Minshew being under center for the Birds on Saturday night.
DeVonta Smith on Gardner Minshew
“Gardner is going to be the next guy. So we just have to come in everyday with him. Do what we have to do. Whatever extra work we need to do with him in order to get ready for the Cowboys game on Saturday, we’re going to do it. [Injuries] are part of the game. It sucks that it happened. But we’ve got to keep rolling. The game doesn’t stop.”
Minshew started two games for the Eagles last season. Against the New York Jets, he completed 20-of-25 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Miles Sanders carried the ball 24 times that game for 120 yards and Dallas Goedert was Minshew’s primary receiver, hauling in six receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
DeVonta Smith had two receptions for 15 yards.
Minshew’s second start was the final game of the regular season for the Eagles last year against the Dallas Cowboys. The majority of starters rested, and Minshew completed 19-of-33 passes for 186 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.
Quez Watkins led the Eagles receivers with five receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. Smitty hauled in three receptions for 41 yards.
Of course, this season is much different for the Eagles. They are 13-1 on the year and have a chance to secure the No. 1 seed and a first round bye in the playoffs with a win in Dallas on Saturday night. The Eagles offense is STACKED with weapons and if Minshew can properly manage the game under center, the game should fall in the Eagles’ favor.
