Report: Eagles make decision on starting QB for Week 16 vs. Dallas

The Eagles have officially named their starting quarterback for their upcoming matchup vs. Dallas.
Head coach Nick Sirianni spoke with reporters this morning and stated that as much as Jalen Hurts tried to be ready, it’ll be Gardner Minshew under center on Christmas Eve.
Sirianni on Jalen Hurts: “We felt it’s for the best he doesn’t go on Saturday.” The #Eagles HC lauded Hurts for how tough he was and how hard he worked to be ready this week. https://t.co/TRIFpvl4Pd

“It’s looking like it’s gonna be Gardner. Jalen did everything he possibly could to get his body ready to go, and it’s just — at the end of the day, he’s not gonna be able to do it. He tried like crazy, and I know he still wants to go. Jalen Hurts is the toughest player I’ve ever been around.”
Hurts suffered a sprained shoulder late in the third quarter of last week’s win on a tackle by Chicago DL Trevis Gipson. The MVP candidate was able to finish the game, completing six of nine passes for 102 yards and rushing for a TD.
The injury isn’t considered to be long-term; Philadelphia is hopeful that Hurts will be 100% for the postseason. If Minshew pulls off a victory against Dallas, Hurts has likely played his final regular season game in 2022.
With three games remaining, the Eagles need just one win to clinch the NFC East title and a first-round bye.
“Gardner (Minshew) will be our guy and Gardner will be ready,” Sirianni said. “Gardner worked his butt off for this opportunity against a really good football team. Had a great practice yesterday.”
