King went undrafted in 2019 out of Oregon and actually held a workout with the Sixers and at the time, was excited about the possibility of playing in Philadelphia and provide an edge defensively.
King, a North Jersey native standing at 6’9”, shot 38.6 percent from three for the Oregon Ducks and averaged 13.5 points per game. Most recently, he was a member of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G League and has appeared in 18 games this season, averaging 20.1 points per game.

NBA teams are allowed to carry two extra players in addition to the 15 on their regular season roster with two-way contracts. These players generally bounce back and forth between the NBA and G League, but remain under team control and can’t be poached by rival franchises.
Saben Lee and Julian Champagnie were the Sixers two-way contracts before King was announced and now, Saben Lee will be waived in order to make room for King.
As we all know, young players don’t really get any playing time at the NBA level on a Doc Rivers coached team, so it’s likely you’ll have to head to Wilmington to catch King on the court.
