Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni still uncertain on Jalen Hurts’ status for Week 17 vs. Saints

On Friday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to the Philly media and provided an update on QB Jalen Hurts’ injury status for Sunday’s matchup with the Saints.
Long story short, Sirianni isn’t sharing any groundbreaking insight on whether Hurts plays or not on Sunday. As he states, the team still has a few days to sort through things.
The Eagles HC on Hurts
“Jalen had a really good practice yesterday and went out and did some things really well,” Sirianni said. “We’re still going to sort through those things, still haven’t decided anything yet.”
It’s silly for any of us to expect Sirianni to spill the beans on who’s going to be under center Sunday. He and the organization will likely wait until the last minute before announcing their decision.
Hurts practiced in a limited fashion on Thursday. It was the first time he’s seen the practice field since spraining his shoulder two weeks ago in Chicago. Regardless if QB1 suits up or not, seeing him back on the field is a great sign. He looks like he’s on track to be completely healthy by the postseason.
The Eagles offense was still very effective without Hurts on Christmas Eve against Dallas. They racked up 34 points and 442 yards of total offense. If they didn’t shoot themselves in the foot by committing four turnovers, Philly probably would have left Dallas with the W.
We’ll get a clearer picture on Hurts’ injury status later Friday when the final injury report is released.
