Sixers Pelicans Preview

Preview: Sixers’ road trip continues tonight against Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans

The Philadelphia 76ers are in New Orleans tonight to face Zion Williamson and the Pelicans.

After a miserable final two minutes that led to a 116-111 loss to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, the Sixers will enter tonight’s game against the Pelicans on the front end of a road back-to-back. Tomorrow night, they’ll be in Oklahoma City for a New Year’s Eve game against the Thunder.

Sixers Injury Report

Tyrese Maxey has been upgraded to ‘probable’ for tonight’s game after missing more than a month since suffering a fracture in his left foot against the Milwaukee Bucks back on November 18th.

Pelicans Injury Report

  • Brandon Ingram (out – left great toe contusion)
  • Herbert Jones (questionable – return to competition reconditioning)
  • E.J. Liddell (right knee ACL injury recovery)
  • Larry Nance Jr. (doubtful – neck spasm)

Joel Embiid & James Harden

Joel Embiid and James Harden will look to continue their December dominance against Zion Williamson and the rest of the Pelicans. In 36 minutes against the Wizards, Embiid dropped 48 points (17-32 FG, 1-5 3PT, 13-14 FT) with 10 rebounds, three steals, and three blocked shots. Harden had his third point-assist double-double in as many games against the Wizards, scoring 26 points with seven rebounds and a game-high 13 assists to go along with three steals and a block.

MIA: Tobias Harris – The Sharpshooter

Tobias Harris needs to get back in rhythm tonight. On Tuesday, he scored 15 points with four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks but really hasn’t been himself since going 5-for-7 beyond the arc and calling himself a sharpshooter.

The Sixers are 20-13 on the year and 4.5 games behind the East-leading Boston Celtics. They are in fifth place in a crowded Eastern Conference standings.
