Eagles DE Josh Sweat shares positive update after being transported to the hospital during Week 17 game vs. Saints

During the opening series of the Eagles matchup with the Saints on Sunday, DE Josh Sweat sustained what seemed to be a very serious injury.
After lunging in to make a tackle on Saints fullback Adam Prentice, Sweat remained on the ground motionless. The entire team crowded the field as the Eagles medical team assisted Sweat onto a stretcher to be carted to the locker room. It was a scary scene that sucked the life right out of Lincoln Financial Field.
Sweat was then transported to a local hospital where it was reported that he had feeling in all of his extremities. Nevertheless, it still seemed like Sweat’s season was over.
After the game concluded, Sweat shared an update via Twitter, where he stated that he’ll be back on the field this season.
Typically, whenever we see an injury like this where movement in the extremities comes into question, our minds usually go towards the worst case scenario. Not only did it seem like Sweat’s season was a wrap, his time as an NFL player came into question; at least for me it did.
While there still is a chance Sweat doesn’t suit up again this year, seeing him Tweet this is certainly a good sign for his long-term viability. Perhaps it was just one of those injuries that looked worse than it actually was.
We’ll get a clearer picture on Sweat’s injury status later on this week when Nick Sirianni speaks to the Eagles media.
