Jean Segura, officially a member of the Miami Marlins, thanks fans, Phillies organization on Instagram

I’m sorry if this is breaking news to Philadelphia fans, but Jean Segura is no longer the second baseman of the Phillies.

Segura signed with the Miami Marlins after his team option wasn’t picked up after the 2022 season. Today, it was announced that he passed his physical and Segura’s two-year, $17 million contract with the fish was now official.

Jean Segura Officially Signs with Miami Marlins

Segura hopped on Instagram today to formally thank Phillies fans and the organization for his time in the City of Brotherly Love.

“Thank you Philadelphia, to the organization and especially to the fans for the support for 4 years, you will always have a place in my heart.

“Thank you for living with me the dream of being in a postseason and reaching a world series. God bless you.

“Thanks to the @marlins for the opportunity. Let’s go to the mambo.”

Jimmy Cigs joined the Fightins in 2019 in a trade with the Seattle Mariners for J.P. Crawford and Carlos Santana. He spent four years in Philly, hitting .281 with 43 home runs, 176 RBI, 228 runs scored and a .755 OPS over 427 games.

I’ll miss Jimmy Cigs. A memory I’ll never forget is the 9th inning of the 2022 Wild Card Series against the St. Louis Cardinals, when this video happened.
