WATCH: Bengals HC Zac Taylor shares insight into everything that happened following Damar Hamlin’s injury Monday night

It’s hard to imagine what was going on in Zac Taylor and Sean McDermott’s minds following the Damar Hamlin injury we all witnessed Monday night.
In the moment, it was tough for any of to process what was going on. The broadcast did their best to share the scarce information they had, but it didn’t completely heal the sense of hopelessness we all felt.
During his Wednesday press conference – the first time he’s spoken to the media since Monday night – Bengals head coach Zac Taylor shared some insight into everything that transpired on the field and in the locker room following the incident.

“I looked at Sean and those players, all they were doing was looking at their teammate and their brother and hoping for the best. That’s the only thing going through their minds,” Taylor said.
“I won’t disclose any of the private conversations Sean and I had, except for this – When I got over there, the first thing he said to me was, ‘I need to be at the hospital with Damar and I shouldn’t be coaching this game.’ That to me provides all the clarity.”
He went on the praise McDermott for his leadership in the moment and his willingness to leave the sidelines to go and support Damar Hamlin and his family.
The latest reporting we’ve gotten on Hamlin’s wellbeing is that he’s still in the ICU in critical condition.
