Phillies acquire young right-handed reliever in exchange for their 7th-ranked prospect

The Phillies have acquired RHP Yunior Marte in exchange for 7th-ranked prospect Erik Miller, the team announced just moments ago.

Marte, 27, made his major-league debut in 2022, throwing 39 games out of the bullpen for the Giants. He logged a 5.44 ERA in 48 innings, allowing 29 earned runs while striking out 44, posting an ERA+ of 74.

Erik Miller was once a fascinating prospect for the Phils, but after the team didn’t protect him from Rule 5 a month back, it was pretty apparent that they were starting to lose patience. Miller suffered a few unfortunate injuries that made his road to the majors much harder.

Yunior Marte is immediately added to the 40-man roster and has two options back down to the minors remaining. Dave Dombrowski has added yet another hard-throwing star with a ton of upside.
