The Phillies have signed infield utilityman Vimael Machin to a minor-league contract.
Phillies Sign Vimael Machin
Machin, 29, has spent his years in the Oakland Athletics minor-league system, with stints in the majors for the last three seasons. He hasn’t faired well in the majors, slashing just .208/.290/.261 in 112 games.

Vimael Machin’s biggest success came in Triple-A, where he hit .324/.401/.457 for Oakland in 2022 with 4 HRs and 49 RBIs in 64 games, logging a .858 OPS. Machin has slashed .304/.400/.468 in 179 total games in AAA over the last four seasons.
Machin will have to battle for a spot on the Opening Day roster, and it’s likely he won’t get one, but he now gets to work with Kevin Long, who has unlocked many swings from multiple different players over the years. Hopefully, Machin is next.
