MLB Network releases atrocious list of the Top 10 Pitchers in baseball

MLB Network has dedicated its offseason to releasing horrible rankings of all different positions across the baseball diamond, but the most recent rankings may just take the top spot.
MLB Network: “Top 10 Pitchers in Baseball”
Corbin Burnes is a great pitcher, but he’s not the best pitcher in baseball. Carlos Rodon is strictly #3 because he is now a New York Yankee. Having Rodon ranked ahead of Sandy Alcantara is just absolutely horrendous.
Justin Verlander in the Top 5 is fine for now. Verlander is coming off a great regular season with the Houston Astros, ending with a Cy-Young Award and a World Series trophy. Although he’s statistically the worst pitcher in World Series history, he’s certain to thrive in a Mets rotation that will just choke come playoff time. It’s a match made in heaven.
The issue with MLB Network’s list is Jacob deGrom at #9, and Aaron Nola is not even on the list. Jacob deGrom is the greatest pitcher I have ever watched throw a baseball with my two eyes. Although his health is a major concern when on the field, he’s basically unhittable when he’s on the mound.
Aaron Nola has thrown the most innings in all of baseball by nearly 100 over the last five seasons. While the ERA doesn’t always show it with Nola, everyone knows ERA is a dumb stat anyway. Nola threw an ERA+ of 125 in 2022 with a 0.961 WHIP. Nola has logged an ERA+ of 115 or higher in five out of his last six seasons.
It’s very hard to rank pitchers. Every pitcher has a different role on their team, which depends on the strength of the bullpen behind them, their manager’s winning strategy, and the lineup that is there to back them up.
Aaron Nola belongs on this list from MLB Network. Nola is one of, if not the most underrated pitchers in all of baseball. When at his best, there aren’t five guys in this league I’d want on the mound over him.
