Sixers drop second straight, lose 125-105 in Phoenix, despite 37-point effort from Tyrese Maxey

The Sixers were in Phoenix last night on the second leg of a back-to-back and lost to Devin Booker and then Suns 125-105.
Devin Booker scored 29 points while Bismack Biyombo scored 17 with 13 rebounds and five blocks to snap a three-game losing streak for the Suns. The game was relatively close for the first three quarters, until Phoenix went on a 26-11 run that turned a tied game into a 15-point lead early in the final frame.
Tyrese Maxey finished with 37 points on 14-of-19 shooting, including 7-of-11 from three point range.

Joel Embiid scored 28 points with 10 rebounds. Biyombo did one hell of a job slowing down Embiid to start the game, as the MVP frontrunner missed his first four shots and even coughed up a turnover to start the night. Even when Embiid has a “slow night” he still scores 28 points on the second night of a back-to-back. Pretty incredible.

Tobias Harris was the only other Sixers’ player to score in double digits, finishing with 13 points on a dismal 4-of-12 shooting performance from the floor.
The Phoenix Suns bench unit, led by Terrence Ross (15) and TJ Warren (16) outscored the Sixers’ bench 53-17, which ultimately handed the Sixers their second straight loss after losing to Golden State on Friday night.
Up Next for the Sixers
The Sixers are now 49-25 on the season, four games back of the East-leading Milwaukee Bucks and two behind the second place Boston Celtics.
Look, obviously it sucks losing basketball games but we are in the final stretch of the 2022-23 regular season and really, the only thing that matters is for the Sixers to enter the playoffs as healthy as possible.
Over the next week, things will definitely get a bit more interesting. The Sixers will be in Denver on Monday night to face Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets, before returning home to play the Mavericks on Wednesday night.
From there, they will face the Raptors at home, Bucks on the road, Celtics at home and the Heat at home before wrapping up the regular season with two road games against the Hawks and Nets.
