Question: Would you ‘say yes’ to a billboard proposal?

People driving up i95 in the Northeast will likely see a digital billboard this week asking a simple question: “Will You Marry Me”
Philly Native Billboard Proposal
Philadelphia native Felipe Ferraz decided to get a billboard up to propose to the love of his life. It can be seen on i95 in the Northeast near Academy Road heading north, just before Exit 32.
“I want you for Today, Tomorrow and Forever. Andressa, Will You Marry Me? Vocè quer se casar comigo? I Love You. Felipe,”
Listen, I’m not here to put a damper on our guy Felipe or his soon-to-be fiancé.
I couldn’t be happier for them and wish them nothing but the best.
On a related note however, that got me thinking…
- Ladies: Would you want and/or say yes to a billboard proposal?
- Gentlemen: Have you ever thought about proposing via a billboard?
Obviously, I can only give you on perspective and my answer would be a hard no.
While the message was certainly a beautiful one, proposing in a car via a billboard on 95 sounds more like a nightmare than a gesture of love to the woman that you want to spend the rest of your life with.
First, I absolutely hate i95 and commuting up to the Northeast every morning. Second, I feel like proposing while driving down one of the worst roads in America is somewhat dangerous.
Regardless, I’m not good judge in this situation. I’m a single 35-year old (hi ladies) that has never proposed to anyone so what do I know?
Answer: I know nothing.
Still, maybe a nice billboard saying “I’m marrying the love of my life” after the fact would have been better, right?
Meh. Not really my style either. I rarely post anything on social media unless I’m tweeting absolute nonsense. I don’t feel the need to let anyone know what I’m up to in my personal life but again, Felipe is clearly a different breed and maybe his girlfriend is into that type of thing.
Our guys over at the City Pigeons Podcast asked the following question.
I don’t like either but if I had to vote, I’m doing a stadium proposal any night of the week.
I just hope I don’t end up like this Dodgers fan who attempted to do that on MLB Opening Night.
