Real Recognize Real: Patrick Mahomes showers Jalen Hurts with love after signing $255M extension with Eagles

We all witnessed greatness during Super Bowl 57 between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes on one sideline, Jalen Hurts on the other. It was going to come down to whoever had the ball last with enough time to mount a drive.
As we all know, Mahomes was the one who got the last laugh, orchestrating a game-clinching drive that drained over five minutes off the clock, leaving Hurts with just eight seconds to work with. Nevertheless, the entire country saw exactly what type of quarterback Jalen Hurts is. He went toe-to-toe with the best in the business and put up better overall numbers in the process.
Mahomes himself wasn’t shy about admitting that. Even during his post-game presser for the Super Bowl, he was quick to give Hurts his due after the masterclass he put forth.

Now that the two quarterbacks are making similar money after the Eagles inked Hurts to a five-year, $255M extension on Monday, Mahomes still isn’t hesitating to show QB1 love.
Mahomes on the Eagles QB
“First off, congrats to [Hurts]. He deserves it,” Mahomes said. “He’s someone who plays the position the right way. He goes about his business the right way. That’s why they were in the Super Bowl and he played a great game in the Super Bowl. He proved a lot of people wrong who were still doubting him.”
Hurts’ deal, which includes $179.304M in guarantees, makes the Eagles signal caller the highest paid player in terms of average annual salary in NFL history. Deshaun Watson’s full guaranteed $230M contract he signed with Cleveland last offseason is still the largest contract in terms of guaranteed money.
I have a feeling Super Bowl 57 won’t be the last time we see Hurts and Mahomes duke it out on a big stage. The two will face off against one another again during the regular season in 2023, when the Eagles travel down to Kansas City at some point.
If the next iteration of this matchup is anything like what we saw in February, we should be in for another exciting affair. Hopefully, the Eagles manage to get the last laugh this time around.
