WATCH: Joel Embiid takes shots at the Nets, Nick Nurse catches a stray in postgame masterclass
Joel Embiid was in rare form this evening. While his scoring numbers were somewhat lackluster due to the Nets’ incessant double-teams, he crashed the boards and made crisp passes to find open teammates. But what really stood out were his postgame comments, where he seemingly took shots at anybody he could think of.
Joel Embiid compared Jacque Vaughn and the Nets to Nick Nurse:
First of all, I 100% support this behavior. He’s taking everything personally this season, and his intensity is right where it needs to be.
I mean it’s absolutely hilarious that he managed to be so petty. Nick Nurse isn’t remotely near the Playoffs right now and Embiid found a way to rip him one more time. Elite stuff from my MVP.
It didn’t stop there, though. When asked about Cam Johnson’s dun, Joel could not seem to recall the event in question. He also noted a dubious scorekeeping decision not to award him a fourth block.
Embiid is of course referring to Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr. winning Defensive Player of the Year. There were some allegations that his block total was inflated by some home cooking by the Memphis
He also managed to squeeze in a shot at Jokic and the advanced analytics nerds at Statsexuals Anonymous. That always manages to put a smile on my face, and this time was no exception,
Joel Embiid is already talking shit two games into the Playoffs and they haven’t even officially given him the MVP award yet. It’s only going to get better.
Also, just a reminder that Nick Nurse is, in fact, a bitch.
