Kenneth Gainwell will NOT be switching to No. 0, despite rumors

For a second there, it looked like Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell was going to take the leap of faith and switch his jersey number from 14 to the newly implemented 0. The Eagles pro shop, for one reason or another, currently has Gainwell No. 0 jerseys on sale. For the reasonable price of $129.99!

Oddly enough, Gainwell’s No. 14 jersey is still for sale on the website as well. And when I searched up some other players to see if everyone just had No. 0 jerseys ready to ship out, I came back with nothing.

After possibly hundreds, or even thousands, of orders for the Gainwell No. 0 fit, Gainwell himself came out to debunk the rumors. A fan account on Instagram by the name of “GainwellGang” messaged Gainwell to get some confirmation. Sadly, not only did Kenneth Gainwell completely dismiss every question his fan account was asking, he also denied the switch to No. 0.

Well, that’s a bummer.

Kenneth Gainwell looks fine in No. 14, but switching to 0 would’ve been a statement move for the young back. Miles Sanders is no longer in town, Rashaad Penny’s health is always a question mark – the RB1 spot is there for the taking if Gainwell wants it. I think a switch to 0 would have all but solidified Gainwell’s status as the new big dog in town.

But, it looks like Gainwell is staying put at 14. Oh well. Maybe they’re reserving the No. 0 for Bijan. 🤷‍♂️
