Preview: Phillies look for first road series win at 2:10 EST with Taijuan Walker on the mound

The Philadelphia Phillies take the field today at 2:10 EST looking for a series win against the Chicago White Sox.
Today’s Starting Pitchers (2:10 EST)
- Taijuan Walker (1-1, 4.20 ERA)
- Mike Clevinger (2-0, 2.20 ERA)
If one day could summarize the entire Phillies season, it was yesterday. The Phillies bats came alive in game one, cracking ten hits, five earned runs, and three walks off of Lance Lynn in just five and one-third innings. Josh Harrison led the way with three hits and four RBIs, with a crucial two-run homer in the 7th inning to break the score open.
Zack Wheeler ran into some trouble early in the game, but the Phillies bullpen was there to pick him up. Gregory Soto, Craig Kimbrel, Seranthony Dominguez, and Jose Alvarado combined for four innings, allowing zero hits while striking out eight batters.
After a 7-4 matinee win, game two kicked off approximately thirty minutes after the first game was over, and the White Sox got on the board early thanks to a three-run homer from Jake Burger. Unfortunately for the Phillies, their offense completely shut down, giving Bailey Falter no help after settling in for seven innings and just three hits allowed.
Brandon Marsh logged the only hit of the night for the Phillies in the top of the 8th inning, while the team combined for 12 total strikeouts in the 3-0 loss. Bryson Stott’s hit streak, unfortunately, came to an end last night after setting the franchise record earlier in the day for the longest hit streak to start a season in Phillies history.
The Fightins will now look for their first road series win of the year. Currently sitting at 7-11, the team needs to find some consistency before heading home to face a Rockies team that isn’t anything special, opening up an opportunity for the Phillies to make up some ground.
