94WIP’s Howard Eskin is a known Sixers hater. If you or someone you know can find any positive takes Eskin has shared about the 76ers over the years, please send them my way. I simply cannot find them.

Eskin is also known for asking the most ridiculous questions during Sixers pressers. Why he’s even allowed to attend these things is beyond me.

During Wednesday’s presser, Eskin tried to pull a fast one on Tyrese Maxey, who saw right through Eskin’s stupid line of questioning. After telling the Sixers media that he doesn’t care who the team has to face in the Eastern Conference Semifinals (which has been pushed back until Monday, courtesy of Trae Young), Eskin came in with a typical “gotcha” question like only he can.

Maxey: “We’re just preparing for whoever we play next. We’re not really rooting for anybody, we’re just sitting back and waiting. [The Hawks] winning gives Joel some extra days of rest, so that’s cool.”

So how does Eskin follow up? By putting words in Maxey’s mouth.

Eskin: “So you’re telling me you’d rather play Boston than the Hawks?”

I really wish Maxey didn’t take the high road here and just called Howard out for trying to stir up some bullshit storyline. It’s a weird response by Eskin for two reasons. First, Maxey did not say he’d rather play the Celtics over the Hawks. Eskin just decided to make that up. Secondly, if that’s the headline Eskin is looking for out of Maxey, it’s perfect bulletin board material for Boston when/if the Sixers face them in the second-round.

Maxey’s response to Howard: “Nah I didn’t say that.”

Eskin: “You said you don’t care who you play. So, do you not care if you would play a lesser quality team than a better team?”

Maxey: “It’s the playoffs, so everybody is gonna play hard. It doesn’t matter what happened in the regular season. Whoever we play next is gonna be a tough outing.”

It’s safe to say Maxey won this verbal sparring match with Mr. Eskin. Better luck next time, genius.

Hopefully, the Eagles just draft Texas RB Bijan Robinson so this dude can retire.
