Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay took to Twitter today to ask fans what he should do with the team’s second round pick when the NFL Draft continues later today.
Jim Irsay on Selecting Will Levis in Round 2
Tweets like this are why everyone in Philadelphia should be head over heels at the fact that Howie Roseman is in charge of draft picks for the Eagles organization.
Could you imagine if Howie went on Twitter and said something like this in regards to drafting Will Levis in the second round so the Eagles would have a Montana-Young franchise for years to come?
The city of Philadelphia would burn to the ground.
As an innocent bystander, I love Jim Irsay.
He’s a wild man and just lets tweets fly without a care in the world. I respect that because I really do the same exact thing. I’ll interact with anyone who DMs me or Tweets me. Don’t care who you are or what your intentions are, I just want to TWEET, baby.
Plus, we haven’t even considered the fact that Joe Montana and Steve Young were drafted eight years apart so his whole analogy doesn’t even make sense to begin with. If Irsay was smart, he would have went with an RG III and Kirk Cousins analogy, but whatever. I appreciate the Montana-Young one even though it literally makes zero sense.
You have to believe that everyone in the Colts organization is probably like “what the fuck” every time they see a tweet from Irsay, but at the same time, why would they care? Accept your paycheck, maybe head over to Irsay’s office for some pre-draft “bumps” and keep it moving.
As for Will Levis, you have to feel bad for this guy. ESPN had him as one of the top picks in the NFL Draft while shoving cameras in his face throughout night one of the NFL Draft and he wasn’t even selected. Everyone was mocking his entire family and making remarks about his girlfriend and now, he’s not coming back for Day 2 of the NFL Draft tonight.
I don’t blame Levis in the slightest. Why be a punching bag for the national media and social media while you wait to get drafted?
Then on top of that, there’s a chance that Jim Irsay gobbles you up to make you the next Montana-Young quarterback room in Indianapolis?
Yikes. At that point, I would question my career path completely. Seems like a nightmare situation.
