Phillies Acquire Junior Marin and Cash Considerations from Kansas City Royals
Marin is just 19 years old and was born in Punta de Piedras, Venezuela. The young slugger slashed .380/.469/.696 for Royals Blue in the Dominican Summer League in 2021 with 7 HRs and 32 RBIs (32G). He logged 35 hits, eight doubles, and five stolen bases, tallying a 1.164 OPS.
Junior Marin participated in the Arizona Complex League in 2022 and continued to crush the baseball, hitting .315 in 30 games with 6 RBIs, 7 doubles, and 29 total hits.
It’s a low-risk high-reward trade for the Phillies, as James McArthur showed them nothing in his time in the minors. McArthur logged a 7.31 ERA in four starts this year for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The Phils get a day off today after getting back in the win column on Sunday. They take on the Toronto Blue Jays in a 2-game series starting tomorrow night at 6:40 EST.
