Matt Strahm defends former teammate Kaleb Ort after DraftKings’ baseball podcaster Jared Carrabis says he sucks on Twitter

Matt Strahm wasn’t a fan of DraftKings baseball podcaster Jared Carrabis’ video about Red Sox reliever Kaleb Ort blocking him on Twitter.
Matt Strahm defends former teammate Kaleb Ort after Jared Carrabis says he sucks on Twitter
Okay so obviously Strahm is just sticking up for his former teammate and yes, it’s super weird that someone like Carrabis, who has nearly a half-million followers on Twitter is making a video about a minor league pitcher that blocked him on Twitter, but outside of that, let’s focus on the main point that caused the interaction on Twitter.
Kaleb Ort is not a very good baseball pitcher.
But hey, good news! That’s perfectly fine. Ort still managed to work his way up through the minor league system and find his way on to a Major League Baseball roster which really means that he’s better than the overwhelming majority of people on planet earth that play baseball.
So yeah, Matt Strahm is technically right on that point, but does that point even matter in this situation? Not really.
You can’t go and tell Jared Carrabis, who’s getting paid millions by DraftKings to create baseball content that he has to show respect for the people that play the game he makes a living off of. That’s really not how that works at all right?
Kaleb Ort appeared in 12 games for the Boston Red Sox this season, going 1-0 with a 7.30 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP. Pitched a total of 12.1 innings and struck out 12. He was then sent down to the minor leagues because he couldn’t pitch well in the big leagues.
So yeah, people are going to say he sucks. Sorry that he’s your friend Matt Strahm but if he’s not going to pitch well then people, especially a Red Sox fan and Boston native that works for DraftKings while hosting one of the biggest baseball podcasts in the world, are going to say that he sucks.
That’s just the way the world works. Unfortunately, you can’t really get mad on Twitter of all places when someone rips your buddy for not pitching well. That’s what he’s paid to do and as a professional baseball player, you should realize that if you are going to suck, people are going to tell you that you suck.
Still, everyone is entitled to their opinions, which Strahm knows very well after he hopped on a baseball podcast earlier this year and suggested that because baseball games are faster with the new pitch-clock, that ballparks should actually stop serving alcohol in the seventh inning of baseball games instead of the eighth, which I wholeheartedly disagreed with right here.

While his opinions might be wrong, Strahm has pitched well for the Phillies this season, posting a 4-3 record with a 2.73 ERA. He’s appeared in 11 games (6 Starts), throwing 33 innings while striking out 47 batters with a 0.97 WHIP.

The Phillies as a team, however, suck just like Kaleb Ort. They lost last night 6-3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks falling to 22-25 on the season and are currently in fourth place in the NL East standings behind the Atlanta Braves (29-18), New York Mets (25-23) and the Miami Marlins (24-24).
