Fred VanVleet shares his thoughts Joel Embiid, Sixers under new head coach Nick Nurse

The Philadelphia 76ers have a new head coach in Nick Nurse and now the organization’s focus will be putting together a new-look roster around key players like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
One name that has been floating around on the internet as a potential signing would be Toronto Raptors star Fred VanVleet, who was a very solid player under Nurse.
Nick Nurse was fired by the Raptors after missing the playoffs but left Toronto with an impressive resume that included winning the NBA finals for the first time in franchise history.
Since winning the NBA Finals in 2019, Nurse made the playoffs in two of the four seasons as the Raptors head coach before being this year.
After winning the NBA Finals in 2019, VanVleet signed a four-year, $85 million contract extension with the Raptors in 2020. His contract includes a player option for the 2023-24 season, which he has yet to exercise.

During the 2022-23 season, VanVleet turned down a four-year $114 contract extension to remain with the Raptors and reports stated that it was a “mutual decision” to wait to do anything until the end of the year.

That of course, begs the question as to whether he’ll choose to leave Toronto and possibly head to Philly with his former head coach, Nick Nurse.
VanVleet was active on Twitter when news broke that Nurse would be heading to Philadelphia.

Okay so clearly, there’s a good relationship between Nick Nurse and Fred VanVleet and with the Sixers likely parting ways with James Harden adding another high-volume guard is of the upmost importance.
All things considered, it seems like Fred VanVleet could be that guy.
