WATCH: White Sox walk it off after 96mph fastball hits umpire directly in the face

The Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 2-1 on walk-off fashion after a fastball from reliever Jose Cisnero hit home plate umpire Cory Blaser directly in the face.Â
With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning Cisnero was facing Tim Anderson and threw a fastball that catcher Eric Haase clearly wasn’t prepared to catch.
The result was the baseball hitting home plate umpire Cory Blaser directly in his face mask.Â
That caused confusion for Haase, who was trying to locate the ball while also checking on Blaser. Cisnero eventually tracked down the ball but Yoan Moncada who was on third, was able to easily score to give the White Sox a bizarre walk-off win over the Tigers.

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this happen in a baseball game but White Sox fans were absolutely loving it and rightfully so.
Check these dudes out.Â

Also shoutout to Cory Blaser for taking that fastball to the face like a champ. A 96 mph fastball to the face has to hurt, even with a mask on.Â
What made it even more bizarre is the fact that every run scored in the game between the Tigers and White Sox came on wild pitches.
