Phillies #3 prospect Justin Crawford will compete in the MLB All-Star Futures Game

Phillies #3 prospect Justin Crawford has been selected as one of the first six players to compete in the MLB All-Star Futures Game presented by SiriusXM.
Justin Crawford to Compete in 2023 MLB Futures Game
Crawford, 19, was the Phillies’ first-round pick in last year’s MLB Draft out of Bishop Gorman High School in California. Crawford was committed to LSU at the time but elected to head right to the Phillies organization.
Justin Crawford has slashed .346/.395/.456 in 46 games in Single-A this season, tallying 63 hits, 34 runs, 10 doubles, five triples, and 32 RBIs. He’s struck out just 35 times in 182 ABs while holding a .851 OPS.
My favorite word for Crawford coming out of the draft was scrappy, and he’s been exactly that in his first full season in pro baseball. He’s not a home run hitter, but he makes up for that by finding the whole field whenever he’s at the plate, along with his speed around the bases.
Justin Crawford was promoted into the Top 100 Prospects in all of baseball last week by MLB Pipeline in the 90th slot. Crawford is the third Phillie included on the list, along with Andrew Painter (11) and Mick Abel (46).
The entire MLB Futures roster will be announced tonight at 6:00 EST on MLB Network, and the game will take place on July 8th in Seattle.
The Phillies got a big series win over the weekend thanks to an epic collapse from the New York Mets. They’ll kick off a 3-game set with the Chicago Cubs tomorrow night at 8:05 EST.
I am so happy he is in the Futures Game. The Phillies only have two representatives going. It’s him and Mick Abel.
