Eagles Buzz: DeSean Jackson hints towards retirement on social media

It may be the end of the road for one of the NFL’s most electric players.
Former Eagles WR DeSean Jackson appears to have signaled his retirement from football in a recent post on Instagram:

Jackson, 36, stated in May that he’s open to a potential return in 2023. With no teams clamoring for his services, the veteran likely sees the writing on the wall.
‘D-Jax’ was initially drafted by the Eagles in 2008 and became one of the most prolific deep threats in league history. His first stint with Philadelphia ended abruptly when then-Head Coach Chip Kelly released him due to alleged gang affiliations.
The three-time Pro Bowler made the Eagles regret that decision every chance he could, burning his former club for 569 yards before returning to Philly in 2019. His homecoming was shortlived, however, as injuries limited Jackson to just eight games across two seasons.
Jackson later had quick stops with the Raiders, Rams, and Ravens, but his best playing days are clearly behind him at this stage of his career.
DeSean Jackson career stats
- 641 receptions
- 11,263 yards
- 58 TDs
- 1,315 punt return yards
- 4 punt return TDs
Jackson currently holds the NFL record for most 60+ yard TDs and is second behind Jerry Rice for most 50+ yard TDs in his career. If this is indeed the end for him, it’s been a hell of a ride.
Down 24-3 at one point, the @Eagles ended up pulling off one of the most improbable comebacks we’ve ever seen.
