Joel Embiid: ‘I just want to win a championship…I don’t know where that’s going to be. Whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else.’

Joel Embiid sat down with Maverick Carter at the first annual UNINTERRUPTED Film Festival at NeueHouse Hollywood last Thursday.
Embiid was there to discuss the launch of his new media studio, Miniature Géant Studio that he launched a few months ago with LeBron James along with his NBA basketball career.
The quote that caught fire on the internet…
Joel Embiid on Winning Championships:
“I just want to win a championship…I don’t know where that’s going to be. Whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else. I just want to have a chance.”
Of course, Sixers fans are going to blow this quote way out of context and act like Joel Embiid is demanding a trade or doesn’t want to be playing basketball in Philadelphia.
The second I watched this clip, I knew that a quick search on social media would have people in shambles because of the “Philly or anywhere else” part of his answer.
I’m not reading too much into it and I really don’t think anyone else should either. Embiid was simply trying to deliver the point that he wants to win championships. Whatever it takes. Wherever that’s possible.
Maybe I’m completely wrong here but I’m just not buying into the fact that Embiid wants out of Philadelphia and that “where there is smoke there’s fire.”
Ask yourself this question: Are the Sixers built to win a championship? I mean seriously. Look at the roster right now and tell me that this team is a contender to win the NBA Finals.
You would have to be crazy to even think that is close to happening.
From there look back at the last 5-6 years of the Sixers in the NBA Playoffs. They underperform and underdeliver more than the United States Government.
The Sixers can’t get out of the second round of the playoffs and now all of the sudden we’re going to get mad at Embiid for saying that he wants to win a championship and isn’t sure where that will happen?
Don’t think so. Embiid is right.
Spare me the “Bryce Harper and Jalen Hurts would never say something like that.” nonsense.
Of course they wouldn’t. They have organizations behind them that actually built winning-caliber teams that makes winning a championship possible. The Sixers? Lol. Please.
The Sixers organization is a dumpster fire and if you think any different you’re delusional.
Plus, everyone else is sharing the clip on social media so I figured I might as well tell everyone they are overreacting like a bunch of babies to get the juices flowing on a Monday morning.
Chess not checkers, baby.
