Guy Steals Gun and Sailboat, Makes Getaway down Delaware River
A 31-year-old man armed with a stolen gun is in custody after he allegedly stole a sailboat from a pier near Penn’s Landing and took it two miles down the Delaware River until he was caught, police said.
The police Marine Unit and the U.S. Coast Guard responded and stopped the boat about two miles south near the Walt Whitman Bridge, Small said.
Pojar was apprehended without incident, Small said. When caught, Pojar told police he worked for a “federal agency” and that he was carrying a firearm. No one was hurt and Pojar did not threaten anyone with the stolen gun, which was fully loaded, Small said. – via The Inky
Get a load of this guy. Good ol’ Jolly Roger Pojar, a true pirate on the Delaware River
Yes, I’m definitely considering this guy a modern day pirate. Either that, or an industry plant or CIA agent. Honestly, who knows. It’s hard to figure out what’s real and not real these days. Just ask that lady on the plane who finally revealed herself after months of speculation while looking nothing like the woman on the plane.
That’s a whole different issue. Let’s focus on Jolly Roger Pojar.
He steals a gun, heads out to Pier 5 Marina near Penn’s Landing, hops in a 28-foot sailboat and is off down the river. It took 30 minutes from the Marine Unit and the Coast Guard to catch on to the getaway plan.
Honestly, I’m a huge fan of the move. Even more so after hearing from Steve Mink, owner of Liberty Sailing School told reporters that there was a friendly race behind held among members of the club when they noticed one of their boats departing with a man that was ‘not a member’.

Imagine being down there and all the sudden Jolly Roger Pojar is pulling out of the Marina on a stolen sailboat. Must have been a wild scene.
I will say, the Delaware River is completely under-utilized by residents in Philadelphia and it’s about time we start taking advantage of the waterways that surround the city, whether that’s by pirates or regular transportation.
What makes it even more badass is the fact that Jolly Roger Pojar didn’t even raise the sails. He was cruising down the river with the sails down and was able to travel two miles before anyone caught on.
Say what you want, but that’s pretty impressive.
Maybe it’s not..?
I don’t know much about sailboats but apparently this one had an engine? If that’s the case, then there’s no way in hell that he should have ever been caught, but I’ll assume that engines are different than motors and the way this 28-footer moves is with the sails.
