Fake News: A.J. Brown & Jalen Hurts “argue” on sidelines during Eagles vs. Vikings TNF

The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 after beating the Minnesota Vikings 34-28 on Thursday Night Football.
That should be the main headline/talking point today. But it’s not, and instead, the national media, bloggers, and interns running social accounts, or whoever will blow a sideline interaction between A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts out of proportion.

So, a couple of things: first of all, I want to address Victor Williams, who tweeted this out; my teammate on ThePhillyPod and, most importantly, friend, you’re reaching here, pal. I know how caught up in the moment we can all get during Eagles games, but you’re better than this.
Anyone with any competitive bones in their body or brothers understands the emotions of being in the heat of the battle. Just ask my two younger brothers when we’re smoking another team 15-3 in 3’s at the park. One of us may have the hot hand and must keep riding it. It can be challenging in those moments because you want to contribute and get yours, but you must remember the team comes first and, most notably, winning the game.
Immediately after that interaction, Hurts targeted and hit Brown for a touchdown along the sideline that was called back due to a Rashaad Penny penalty. The very next play, he targeted Brown again for what would be another touchdown, but the officials missed a blatant pass interference call. So clearly, whatever was said on the sideline was effective.

As expected, reporters would ask players and coaches what the deal was here after the game. Rather than reviewing all the quotes, I will include the one that stood out to me most. This one coming from future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce.
Kelce said he thinks it’s good that AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts were talking through issues. He said the problem is when guys aren’t talking to each other.
“You want guys talking. We know we should be playing better than we are.” — Jason Kelce following the game
Kelce is exactly right here. The Eagles’ passing offense has started this season very slow and uninspiring. There were brief glimpses of what it looked like last season, but it wasn’t until after this sideline situation that we saw Hurts attack downfield and let his receivers do their thing. At least targeting Brown, who is practically unguardable one on one.
This whole ordeal will be completely forgotten once the Eagles use this nice break to get healthy and focused on improving the passing game. Besides, what better time for Hurts and Brown to respond to this than carving up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary on Monday Night Football?
