Watkins, 25, landed on injured reserve in October with a hamstring injury and has only appeared in three games this season, catching four passes for 21 yards. With Dallas Goedert out for an unspecified amount of time, the Eagles could use another pass-catcher.
VanSumeren was elevated for the Eagles’ last two games, playing primarily on special teams. The undrafted rookie led the NFL with 26 tackles in the preseason.
Noah Togiai will serve as much-needed tight end depth with Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra ruled out.
