Bradley Cooper and Danny DiGiampietro of Angelo’s Pizzeria bring famous cheesesteaks to New York City
Bradley Cooper and Angelo’s Pizzeria launched a new food truck business properly titled “Danny & Coop’s” in NYC yesterday, offering $10 cheesesteaks with proceeds donated to help feed hungry New Yorkers.
Danny DiGiampietro and Bradley Cooper: Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteak Truck in NYC
Michael Klein from the Inquirer:
(Danny) DiGiampietro and his team, including his niece, Gina, and one of his managers Seth Braunstein, packed up the food and drove it to Manhattan Wednesday morning. Cooper met them and, wearing matching black hoodies, they started the flattop before lunchtime. Cheesesteaks were priced at a bargain $10, and the line was long. From the window, DiGiampietro bellowed, “Go Birds!” at people dressed in Eagles gear.
Cooper and DiGiampietro are donating all proceeds from this pop-up event — scheduled to reprise Thursday — to a nonprofit helping to feed New Yorkers in need.
DiGiampietro would say only that he and Cooper hope to open a cheesesteak shop in New York, where they have been searching for locations for two years. “You know what they want in this neighborhood for 700 square feet?” DiGiampietro asked. “Eighteen thousand a month!” (That’s more than double the price for such a space on Walnut Street in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square.)
Listen, credit to Angelo’s Pizzeria for looking to expand into New York City. Certainly cannot hate any business that wants to broaden their reach, right? That’s something we can all certainly respect. On top of that, it looks like all proceeds from the pop-up event are going to a nonprofit that will help feed the people of New York.
I will say, I’d much rather Angelo’s and Bradley Cooper save on rent money and just open up a space in Rittenhouse Square instead of heading to NYC which as Michael Klein from the Inky noted, is nearly DOUBLE the monthly rent price at $18,000 for a 700 square feet business which is absolutely insane.
Cooper is a well known Philly guy and a die hard Eagles fan. He was just on Howard Stern saying that he’d rather have another Super Bowl trophy than win any fancy Hollywood awards and is a regular attendee of games at Lincoln Financial Field. As for the “Bread Heads” in Philly, you already know how amazing Angelo’s Pizzeria is with literally anything they are selling, so bring the Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteak Truck back down to the city of Brotherly Love.
We all witnessed how successful Carson Wentz’s religious (and nerdy) food truck Thy Kingdom Crumb did here in Philly. We also had Taijuan Walker’s “Tai’s Tacos” make an appearance during last year’s Phillies season. You mean to tell me those two guys can be successful here in Philly but Bradley Cooper and Danny DiGiampietro are better off in NYC?
Didn’t think so. Go Birds.
