Joel Embiid joins Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant in NBA history for his recent dominance
Sixers center Joel Embiid is making yet another run at an MVP this season, but this time it feels different.
After scoring 35 points in three quarters against the Pistons on Friday night, Embiid reached the 30-point mark for a tenth straight game.
This streak ties his career high, and he’s now in very rare company, joining the likes of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Wilt Chamberlain as the only NBA players to ever have multiple 10-game streaks of scoring 30-plus points.
There are a few other noteworthy players on this list, but I included the most well-known to accomplish such a feat.
The most impressive part of this is that the Sixers are playing bad teams and blowing them out; which means Embiid is literally sitting out of 4th quarters. So, not only is Embiid establishing himself as the MVP favorite, but he’s created his own version of load management as well.
So far this season, Embiid is averaging 33.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, and a career-high 6.1 assists per game. To add to that, he’s been dominant on the defensive end of the court, which is the most under-looked aspect of his game.
