Report: Eagles OC Brian Johnson lands head coaching interview with two teams
For 14 teams, the journey to a Super Bowl title begins this weekend.
For the remaining 18 organizations, their offseason gets underway with tough decisions ahead, including coaching changes.
Eight teams have already moved on from their respective head coaches: the Falcons, Panthers, Raiders, Chargers, Titans, Commanders, Seahawks, and Patriots. Two of those squads are eyeing up an Eagles coordinator for their open vacancy.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Panthers are expected to interview Eagles OC Brian Johnson for their head coaching job. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports that the Titans have also requested to interview Johnson.

Johnson, who served as the Eagles’ QB coach in 2022, garnered league-wide interest last spring for available OC jobs, but Philadelphia promoted him from within to replace Shane Steichen.
In Johnson’s first season as play-caller, the Eagles are ranked 7th in scoring (24.2 PPG), 8th in total offense (354.4 YPG), and 9th in red-zone scoring percentage (60.0%).
The Eagles offense has been often criticized for their lack of innovation this season, although Nick Sirianni has stated that it’s ‘his offense’ and Johnson calls the plays.
Per NFL rules, Carolina and Tennessee must wait until after this upcoming playoff game to interview Johnson. If the Eagles advance, they would also need to perform the interview prior to the divisional round. Johnson’s earliest available day for a virtual interview would be Wednesday, January 17.
“All my focus is about this playoff game and putting everybody in position to go out there and put out a great performance on Monday night,” said Johnson.
Johnson’s history with franchise QB Jalen Hurts is well documented, dating back to the latter’s preschool days. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of impact Johnson’s potential exit will have on Hurts moving forward.
