Sounds like Jordan Davis accidentally revealed Fletcher Cox’s future with the Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles were back at the NovaCare Complex today cleaning out their lockers and speaking with members of the media.
As Jordan Davis took his turn to address the media, it sure sounded like he might have revealed the future plans of Fletcher Cox, who has been rumored to be retiring this season.
Davis, who was emotional while speaking about Cox, talked at length about their relationship and how he would no longer be able to use his veteran teammate as a “security blanket” next season.

Well, a lot to unpack here. For one, the security blanket comment is very interesting. That could indicate Cox won’t be with the team next year, but I think it means even more. Jordan Davis was drafted to be Fletcher’s replacement and to put it bluntly, it hasn’t necessarily gotten off to the best possible start.
So, as far as “security blanket” goes, yeah, it’s time to rise to the occasion, Mr. Davis.
Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis both seem to be adapting to the idea that next year is a huge year for the two of them. This is exactly what you want to hear from your interior defensive lineman of the future. Davis had this to say about what he wants to improve next year.
“Establishing a rhythm. If you look at Cox, Sweaty, Aaron Donald’s get-off, it looks exactly the same every single time. No matter what point in the game it is.”

It sure seems Cox played a huge role in Davis’s early life in the NFL. He’s certainly a guy you would love to learn from and follow in an NFL locker room. If it wasn’t for Aaron Donald, Fletcher Cox would probably be considered the best defensive tackle in the league over the last decade.
Let’s just hope Davis can start to get on track to being a generational Eagles player as well.
I personally think losing Cox would be very tough for the Eagles for the fact alone he plays such a pivotal role in being a leader and example for all the young players.
So, if there’s any way Howie can work his magic to bring him back on a budget, I’d be all for it. Regardless of what ends up happening, Fletcher will always be beloved here in this town, and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward.
