Eagles Buzz: Fletcher Cox hints that he may be joining Eagles’ cross-state rival next season

With Eagles DT Fletcher Cox set to become a free agent this offseason, all signs are pointing towards a departure from Philadelphia.

We already heard Jordan Davis talk about the situation, eluding to the fact that Cox may be gone. Not to mention the fact that both Davis and Jalen Carter are poised to take on larger roles in 2024, leaving Cox as the odd man out.

During Super Bowl week, Cox caught up with Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward out in Vegas. Appearing on Heyward’s podcast “Not Just Football,” the Steelers DT asked Cox where he thinks he’ll be playing next season. Cox’s answer, “With you.”

Eagles DT on playing with Heyward:

“It’s all love,” Cox told Heyward. “Just respect that you got for the game, respect that I have for the game. The way that you play the game, the way that I play the game, like we definitely could. That would’ve been nice. We could make some things happen.”

The Steelers are no strangers to signing former Eagles players. Just last year, they snagged Isaac Seumalo off the market after appearing in a Super Bowl with the Birds just a few months prior.

Over the past few offseasons, the Eagles have shown a lot of loyalty towards Fletcher Cox. They’ve given him a lot of money to be, let’s be honest, just an above average defensive tackle. With Davis and Carter in place, this feels like the time to move off of Cox.

If he does land with the Steelers, he’ll be coming back to Philly sometime next season as an opponent. I’m sure he’ll be welcomed back with nothing but applause.
