JJ Redick rips Doc Rivers for his constant complaining since taking over as Bucks HC

Doc Rivers’ tenure with the Milwaukee Bucks has been off to a rocky start, seeing the the team that once had the best record in the NBA go 3-7 since he took over midseason. In true late-stage Doc fashion, he’s been bitching, moaning, and making excuses all the way, and JJ Redick has had enough.

JJ Redick, who played for Doc Rivers, is officially over his former coach’s schtick:

It’s a tired act that players, fans, and analysts alike are starting to sick of it. Throwing your players under the bus is never a good look for a coach, and finally someone in the media is calling him out for it. It’s also punctuated nicely by the fact that Redick will be replacing Rivers on ABC’s coverage of the NBA Finals. Out with the old and incompetent and in with the new, as they say.

How can you, as a professional coach, complain about taking over a team mid-season? It’s not like you got traded, you accepted the job offer. Nobody forced you to.

Then to show up and immediately run one of the best teams in the league into the ground and stunt the growth of young players in such a way is just ridiculous. It’s clear he needs reality check, and has needed one for quite sometime, and it looks like this episode of First Take could be the start (though I doubt it knowing that numbskull).

He doesn’t even know the names of the young players and has the audacity to complain about how hard the job is? I’ve never seen someone put less effort into something and immediately whine about the difficulties. It’s like my buddy in high school who kept cheating on his girlfriends and then crying about how his relationships never worked out. Like, no shit, pal.

I love seeing JJ fired up about this because it’s what Sixers fans have been screaming about since Doc’s first playoff failure in Philadelphia. The indignant, “nobody’s going to react to Doc’s audio?” is perfect, because he knows the media keeps their mouth shut when it comes to Doc.

He’s right, there’s zero accountability with Doc Rivers. It really feels like the majority of Doc criticism comes from disgruntled fans. Stephen A. Smith immediately jumped in with a “let me say this” that I’m sure undercut the very salient point Redick just made.

There absolutely needs to be more Doc Rivers slander in the national media. I despise the Bucks, but watching him systematically destroy that organization is almost too much for me to bear.

And coming from me, that means a lot. I am the Chief Petty Officer at TLL; my capacity for schadenfreude knows no bounds.

I really feel awful for Bucks fans. Even though they won a title somewhat recently, they have to deal with a coach that hates coaching basketball. How he even got this job is beyond me.
