Phillies upgrade out-of-town scoreboard in right field, fans online lose their minds
The Philadelphia Phillies and Citizens Bank Park had a few pictures leaked on the internet of the new Out-of-Town Scoreboard that will be featured along the right field wall for the 2024 season.

Oh man, I have never cared less about anything in my life.
The only thing I’m concerned about is the fact that there will be horrible ads running on that scoreboard all game.
Trust me, I’m anti-robot and artificial intelligence taking over the world and destroying the human race. I’m also a traditionalist, especially when it comes to baseball. Anything moving to full-digital is disgusting. However, as long as Citizens Bank Park and the Phillies stick with MLB scores and updates, then really, I don’t care about the display.
Note: I spend the majority of my time in the Hall of Fame Club and at points throughout the last two seasons, I spent the middle-innings of a Phillies game drunkenly trying to convince people around me that the ivy in centerfield was actually painted onto the brick and was completely fake.
Do I care what the out of town scoreboard says or looks like? Absolutely not.
This isn’t Fenway and the Green Monster. The hybrid “old school” look with electric numbers and game details didn’t move the needle for me at all.
On top of that, Tim Kelly from the great Phillies Nation, did anyone really need you to confirm the legitimacy of the photo? Why would anyone photoshop that shit, man? I appreciate the investigation but you’re a gentleman with credentials. Go find out who Topper has hitting in the one-spot and why he thinks Alec Bohm can bat cleanup.
I guess the Phillies and CBP wants more ad money. Have you seen the “new” scoreboard? It’s 50/50 with actual information and advertisements. Whatever money the Phillies can generate in order to keep Zack Wheeler in the house with what could be a 45-year old Bryce Harper – sign me the hell up.
Kidding. Kind of. Okay not really. Anyways, who cares about the scoreboard. It’s a moot point in the grand scheme of winning the World Series in the current window.
Lock in. I know the start of Spring Training is tough. We’re told everyone reports, then we have to wait 2 weeks until an actual baseball game is played and we’re all going crazy (ex. this post). Hang in there. Phillies baseball and the Hunt for Red October is close.
Phillies Spring Training Updates:
- Whit Merrifield, already in ‘win now’ mode, talks to the media for the first time as a member of the Phillies in Clearwater, Florida
- Trea Turner says ‘everyone hates’ new Nike Vapor Premier jerseys, Matt Strahm doesn’t understand why MLB would approve such drastic changes
- Spring Training: Bryce Harper addresses Phillies’ championship window, contract extension, playing first base and losing Rhys Hoskins
