Roster Moves: Eagles re-sign athletic tight end ahead of free agency
One of the Eagles‘ tight ends (not named Dallas Goedert) will be sticking around for training camp.
Per ESPN’s Field Yates, Philadephia has re-signed TE Albert Okwuegbunam to a new one-year contract, preventing him from entering free agency.
The Eagles have signed TE Albert Okwuegbunam to a new one-year contract through 2024, per source. Albert O was scheduled to become a free agent next month.

The Eagles traded a sixth-round selection for Okwuegbunam on roster cut-down day last season to keep him from going on waivers. He was barely used throughout the season (targeted just once all season), even when Dallas Goedert missed three games with an injury.
Okwuegbunam finished fourth among Eagles tight ends in offensive snaps in 2023, behind Goedert, Jack Stoll, and Grant Calcaterra.
After Noah Fant was shipped off in the Russell Wilson trade, the former 4th-round pick was expected to be the Broncos’ top tight end in 2022. Instead, Okwuegbunam watched his usage decrease with Nathaniel Hackett in favor of an emerging Greg Dulcich.
The Eagles likely want to see what Albert O can do in camp and let him compete for a roster spot — no harm in bringing him back at a low cost.
The 25-year-old showed flashes in his three years at Denver, catching 54 passes for 546 yards and four touchdowns.
“Great support system here. Great culture,” Okwuegbunam said last season.
HEY-O, ALBERT O!
