Phillies Roster for the MLB Spring Breakout
According to MLB.com, the Phillies’ roster will include 20 of their top 30 prospects, including Abel (No. 2), Aidan Miller (No. 3), Justin Crawford (No. 4), Starlyn Caba (No. 5), Devin Saltiban (No. 7), Bryan Rincon (No. 8), Eduardo Tait (No. 9) and Gabriel Rincones (No. 10).
We can certainly expect to see a healthy does of three out of the Phillies’ four top prospects that were featured on the MLB Pipeline Top 100 List in late January.
Andrew Painter, Mick Abel, Aidan Miller, and Justin Crawford all cracked the Top 100 list.

Andrew Painter is expected to be a bonafide starting pitcher that can be a rotations No. 1 or No. 2 but we won’t actually be able to see if that turns out to be something worth celebrating until the 2025 season since the Phillies’ top prospect underwent Tommy John Surgery last Summer.
Painter went 6-2 in the minors with a 1.48 ERA and 167 strikeouts in 109.2 innings while walking just 25 batters.
Mick Abel: The Phillies are hoping that Abel will be major league ready this season. He made it to Triple-A Lehigh Valley last season and has posted a 14-20 record with a 4.09 ERA. Abel has a killer curveball and strikes out 11.1 hitters per nine innings.
Aidan Miller: Phillies first-round pick last summer. Played in 20 minor league games and posted a .303 batting average with Class-A Clearwater.
Justin Crawford: Phillies 2022 first round draft pick has played his way to High-A Jersey Shore and is lightning fast. He finished last season slashing .332/.392/.467/.859 with three home runs and 64 RBI. He hit 22 doubles, eight triples and stole 47 bases in 87 games.
Keep tabs on Starlyn Caba: The 5’10” shortstop from the Dominican Republic is just 18-years old. Caba yet to play in the U.S., but the organization’s top international get in the 2023 signing period is a serious pick to click as someone who will work their way onto that Top 100 soon. Playing internationally last year, he slashed .301/.423/.769 with 40 hits, 17 RBI, 16 stolen bases, and 29 runs scored in 133 at-bats.
Additional prospects include Carlos De La Cruz, who’s ranked No. 6 in the Phillies organization and currently in big league camp down in Clearwater.
Keep an eye on some of the Phillies best young prospects, including 17-year-old catcher Eduardo Tait (No. 23) and 19-year-old outfielder Devin Saltiban (No. 18).
