Byard was traded to Philadelphia during the 2023 season, where he recorded 75 tackles, three passes defended, and an interception in ten appearances. The Eagles released Byard on March 1 to create an additional $13M in cap space, leaving him free to sign elsewhere.
With how deep the free-agent safety class is this offseason, it appears Byard looked for a deal early before the market dried up at the position.
The legal tampering period begins tomorrow at noon EST. Since Byard had already been cut, he was free to negotiate with the teams.
