The Eagles attempted to re-sign Swift before today’s legal tampering period, but he wanted to test his market first. In doing so, Swift got more than his projected market value at $8M/year.
Swift was acquired during last season’s NFL Draft and went on to have a career-year in Philadelphia:
D’Andre Swift’s 2023 season
- 229 rushing attempts (career-high)
- 1049 rushing yards (career-high)
- 4.6 yards/carry
- 39 receptions
- 214 receiving yards
- 6 total touchdowns
Often underutilized in Nick Sirianni’s system, Swift will now join an offense that may be led by consensus No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.
For the Eagles, running back becomes a pressing need with Kenneth Gainwell the only back under contract. Philadelphia is reportedly interested in former Giants RB Saquon Barkley; we’ll update this story as it develops.
