Sixers GM Daryl Morey remains silent as Tobias Harris continues to embarrass himself and the organization

Ever since Joel Embiid suffered his injury, the vibes around the Sixers have been incredibly low.

But if there was ever going to be any silver lining during this time period, it would be the opportunity for other players to step up and potentially flourish in larger roles.

Unfortunately, Tobias Harris has managed to come up even smaller than he ever has for the Sixers. So much so, that TNT aired a graphic at the beginning of the second half of the Sixers loss to the New York Knicks Tuesday night that read, “Where is Tobias Harris.”

During Joel Embiid’s six-week absence, Tobias Harris has seen a notable decline in his performance. Over the span of 16 games, Harris averaged 15.8 points per game, a considerable drop compared to his season average.

Despite receiving far more opportunities and a larger role, his shooting percentages have suffered and his body language has been awful.

It’s worth noting that Tyrese Maxey was sidelined for four games due to a concussion. In those games, Harris had a prime opportunity to win the fans back over, but instead, he averaged just 14.5 points, shot 41 percent from the field, and a whopping 12.5 percent from three.

Now, we get to Sixers GM Daryl Morey. This guy has had every opportunity over the last four years to try to get off Harris’s awful contract. Instead, he’s taken every opportunity to post on social media how great Tobias is after he has a good regular-season game against a weak opponent. Case and point:

Sixers GM Daryl Morey LOVES Tobias Harris

Hope you’re happy Daryl. You managed to hold onto this disaster of a contract for its entirety, and now the Sixers have to pretend to be optimistic that they will land a big free agent or trade for a star that will actually get over the hump in the offseason.

For the record, I was willing to take that Crumbl cookie the second I heard it was a possibility.
