Jeffrey Lurie: Reddick situation will play itself out in a ‘very good way’

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie met with the media at the NFL Annual Meetings on Tuesday & offered some very interesting words regarding the Haason Reddick saga.

When asked about Reddick, Lurie stated that the situation would play itself out in a “very good way.”

Reddick, 30, is entering the final season of a three-year deal he signed with the Eagles in 2022. The Temple alumni has recorded 27 sacks in the past two seasons & has been one of the best defensive players on the Eagles.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the NFL Network reported that Reddick and his agency were given permission to seek a trade.

I reported that morning that Reddick was seeking $25 million per year in a new extension & his agency has stood pat on that asking price to this point.

The Eagles have had some trade discussions regarding Reddick, a source said, but nothing has come close to materializing. The Eagles are seeking at least a second-round pick, a source told The Liberty Line.

However, Lurie’s words leave some cautious optimism that a return to Philadelphia isn’t out of the cards for Reddick.

What a Reddick return would look like

If Haason Reddick ultimately does return to the Eagles, it’ll be on a different contract. Whether that’s an extension or a revised one-year deal, Reddick won’t return on his $21 million cap hit.

If I were to guess, it’d be a revised one-year deal with some more guarantees & some performance-based incentives.

It’s worth noting the Eagles have already signed Bryce Huff to a big three-year contract & agreed to a revised contract with Josh Sweat that ties him to the team through the 2024 season.
