NFL approves rule to push back trade deadline

NFL owners approved several rule change proposals and bylaws at this year’s NFL Annual Meeting in Orlando.

Among the rule changes, the NFL trade deadline has been pushed back from Week 8 to the day after Week 9 is completed.

Washington and five other teams wanted the trade deadline pushed back to after Week 10 in preparation for the eventual 18-game regular season.

Pittsburgh wanted it pushed to after Week 9; their proposal was approved. This year’s deadline will be Tuesday, November 5th.

The Eagles are typically aggressive at the trade deadline, acquiring players such as Jay Ajayi (who contributed to a Super Bowl), Golden Tate, Robert Quinn, and Kevin Byard over the years.

They’ll have an extra week to make calls in 2024.
