WATCH: Rhys Hoskins slides hard into 2nd base against the Mets, makes Jeff McNeil cry like a baby
In case you were wondering, former Phillie Rhys Hoskins still hates the Mets. Even though he’s wearing a Brewers uniform to start the 2024 season, the first baseman decided to remind his old division rival of that fact by nearly taking out Jeff McNeil to prevent a double play.
Rhys Hoskins slid hard into second base, causing Jeff McNeil to have a meltdown and the dugouts to empty:

Of course, as a Phils fan, this is hilarious to watch. The Mets constantly antagonized Hoskins, hitting him with a pitch four times, one of which led to a legendary 31-second home run trot.
Once things died down and players returned to the dugout, Hoskins then proceeded to call McNeil a crybaby which, factually speaking, is 100% correct. Once a Phillie, always a Phillie.

What an absolute loser McNeil is. Popping up and screaming at Hoskins immediately after getting bitched is just too on-brand.
Even after the game, the McNeil and the Mets continued to winge and complain about the completely legal play. Their calling it a dirty play was made much funnier by the fact that McNeil had one of the least competitive slides in recent memory against the Braves.
