Since leaving Philadelphia after the tumultuous 2020 season, Wentz has bounced around the league, suiting up for the Colts, Commanders, and most recently, the Rams. He appeared in two games with Los Angeles last season and made one start.
Wentz’s career has been on a downward trajectory ever since his MVP-like season in 2017, where he threw 33 touchdowns (an Eagles franchise record) to just seven interceptions while completing 60 percent of his passes. He’s never reached those heights since the 2017 season and has really fallen off a cliff over the past two seasons, throwing for 13 TDs to 10 interceptions while posting a 3-5 record as a starter.
At this point, this was probably the best move Wentz could’ve made. He’ll get to learn from the best offensive mind in the history of the sport in Andy Reid, while learning behind the unquestioned best QB in football right now, Mahomes.
Best case scenario — Wentz takes what he learns in Kansas City and manages to resurrect his career, akin to Geno Smith in Seattle.
