Philadelphia 76ers fined $100k for violating injury report rules with Joel Embiid

The NBA has fined the Philadelphia 76ers $100,000 for violating the injury report rules as Joel Embiid’s status changed from out to questionable then to available within an hour of Philadelphia’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.

The NBA considered Philadelphia’s past injury report offenses when determining the amount of the fine as they were fined $25,000 more than their previous fee for disregarding the league’s injury report rules.

In January, the 76ers were fined $75,000 when Joel Embiid was controversially a late scratch against the Denver Nuggets after not being listed on the injury report.

Despite the fine, Joel Embiid had a strong performance consisting of 24 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds in Philadelphia’s win over the Thunder City on Tuesday.

The 76ers are 2-0 since Joel Embiid made his return earlier this week with respectable wins over Oklahoma City and Miami as Philadelphia, at 42-35,  looks to avoid the play-in tournament.
