New Eagles WR thinks Saquon Barkley will be ‘the best running back in the league’ behind dominant OL
On paper, the Philadelphia Eagles have the best assortment of offensive weapons in the NFC East, thanks in large part to the addition of RB Saquon Barkley.
Along with Barkley, the Eagles brought in another former Giant for their offense, wideout Parris Campbell. The WR recently spoke with Olivia Reiner of the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he said he believes Saquon will prove he’s the best running back in the league this season.
The new Eagles wideout on Saquon Barkley:
“I think he’s going to show people why he’s the best running back in the league,” Campbell said. “I know there’s a bunch of debate between him and Christian McCaffrey. And don’t get me wrong, Christian McCaffrey’s by far one of the best running backs in the league. But being able to see Saquon up close and personal, being in the same locker room, on the same team, man, he’s a different guy when he’s on that field, honestly.
And running behind that offensive line that we have, I think it’s going to be pretty scary for defenses. You pair that with Jalen and the things he can do with his feet, just as far as extending plays, getting outside the pocket, I’m sure there will be some type of read-option game that we go on and RPO stuff that’ll happen. So just the possibilities of it are endless.”

There are a handful of contenders for “Best RB in the NFL,” and there’s no doubt Saquon’s name is in the running. Playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in football, on an offense that featured no legitimate threats outside of himself, Saquon still put up great numbers.
In 2022, he put up his best stats to date, rushing for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns, while hauling in 57 receptions for 338 yards. The only reason that Giants team managed to sneak into the playoffs was because of Saquon.
Now that he’s going to be running behind the Eagles great offensive line, there’s no reason he shouldn’t thrive. Not to mention the plethora of weapons the Eagles have outside of Saquon — AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert.
You’d be hard pressed to find anyone saying Saquon is the best running back in the game right now. But by season’s end, don’t be surprised if that’s the general consensus.
