Steve Cohen, Mets fans hit rock bottom in attempting to copy Phillies’ Trea Turner ovations for Francisco Lindor
Francisco Lindor and the New York Mets are off to another rough start, posting a miserable 3-6 record in the early stages of the 2024 MLB season.
Lindor, playing on a 10-year, $341 million contract, that came with a $21 million signing bonus, is batting a lowly .083 with three hits and one home run in 36 at-bats this season.
Because of his struggles, Mets fans and owner Steve Cohen are hoping to use the Philadelphia Phillies playbook in showing support for Francisco Lindor, honoring him with a standing ovation in effort to change his bad play on the baseball field.
Steve Cohen on Trea Turner ovations as an idea to help Francisco Lindor
The main issue here is that the New York Mets have an average attendance this season similar to the Oakland Athletics.
Literally no one is coming to games and after last week where longtime announcer Gary Cohen said the team hit “rock bottom” just five games into the season, I doubt that fans are going to come out to give Lindor an ovation.

Just 36 at-bats for Lindor and Mets fans are trying to organize drastic standing ovations before it’s too late all while failing to realize that it’s already too late for them this season and their baseball team, as constructed, was always going to finish third or fourth in the NL East this season.

Of course, Mets fans have zero shame.
Could you imagine, as a Phillies fan, copying something that Mets fans were doing? I would rather jump off the Ben Franklin Bridge than take any type of advice or ideas from Mets fans.
Mets fans are scum of the earth losers that deserve no type of respect and the fact that they are trying to use Trea Turner and the ovation Phillies fans gave him last year as something to get Lindor moving is honestly pathetic.
I mean look at this idiot. Just kill me before I ever reach a low point like this. Please.
I’m also someone who was adamantly against the standing ovations for Trea Turner and still believe that while they appeared to help him turn things around last season, a .300 career hitter will always return to form.
Unfortunately for Mets fans and Francisco Lindor, he hasn’t even come close to the player New York thought they were signing at the start of the 2021 season. The Mets shortstop has batted just .250 with 78 home runs and 270 RBIs in 455 games in New York over the past 4 seasons.
