De’Anthony Melton to return for Philadelphia 76ers against Detroit Pistons tonight
De’Anthony Melton is available for the Philadelphia 76ers’ game against the Detroit Pistons tonight after missing significant time due to lumbar spine bone stress via Adam Aaronson of The Philly Voice.
Recapping De’Anthony Melton’s injury
Melton was originally listed as questionable for the first time since February 27th against the Boston Celtics, which is the last game he played in. Nick Nurse said that Melton will have limited minutes in tonight’s game according to Ky Carlin of Sixers Wire.
De’Anthony Melton has battled with his back injury since early January and as a result, has only played in five games in 2024. Melton originally made his return from the injury on February 23rd against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but re-aggravated his back after playing in two more games afterwards.
With Joel Embiid returning from his meniscus injury last week and De’Anthony coming back tonight, the 76ers are returning to full strength at the right time as Philadelphia, at 44-35, looks to avoid the play-in tournament with three games left in the regular season, including tonight’s contest.
De’Anthony Melton was a key rotational piece in the 76ers’ playoff run in the 2022-2023 season and likely will be once more as Melton started 33 of the 36 games he’s played this season where he’s averaging 11.5 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 3.1 assists per game.
