Sixers Talk: Jason Kelce and Lil Dicky discuss mistakes made during the ‘Process’ during New Heights Podcast
On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, the Kelce brothers were joined by Philly’s own, Lil Dicky.
They talked about a variety of things, but it was interesting to hear them dive into the successes and the failures of the Sixers’ “Process.”
I don’t need to run you through the entire thing but basically the process was a time period where the Sixers essentially tore the whole thing down and tanked for lottery picks.
Lil Dicky pointed out the most annoying one being trading up for Markelle Fultz and not taking Jayson Tatum. But, he had this to say about that move.
“I wanted them to draft Markelle Fultz! I wasn’t like ‘What are you doing, you have to get Tatum!’ In retrospect, that’s what the Process was trying to do, to get you Jayson Tatum and Joel Embiid, and we just never quite got that other guy.”
I’m glad Lil Dicky took this stance. I think a ton of people are terrified of being wrong and it’s the coward route to claim you wanted Tatum that whole time. I always personally tell people that Fultz was the consensus #1 pick in the draft that year. Most mock drafts had Fultz going No. 1 regardless. But it sure does seem like the Sixers ran into some really bad luck at times.
“Markelle Fultz is a good player, I have trouble even disrespecting — when I was a kid, I’d talk [obscenity] about athletes, but becoming, I guess a celebrity, I now have a different perspective on the pressures that you guys deal with,” Lil Dicky added.
As you’d imagine Lil Dicky dove into a variety of topics, and the Sixers weren’t the only thing Philly related they touched on. The rapper even shared his thoughts on Philadelphia fans as a whole.
